Illustration Friday - Tall

I thought this week's theme would go very well with this sketch of Sam (the main character in "A Girl named Sam" by Jennifer Hartinger). She is really very tall here :)

A Girl named Sam - illustrated by Little Pixy Boots

I imagined her as a bean sprout when I drew this, especially her very stretchy legs :)

Illustrated in pencil first, then coloured with colour pencils, with a finished outline in dark grey ink. I usually avoid using black for outlines because it is so stark and "in your face". I like outlines to be as soft as possible; however, when scanning into the computer, soft outlines then to be hard to work with, so a balance between softness and clarity needs to be achieved.
